The production method and raw materials of handmade soap
Handmade soap is a type of soap made by hand using natural oils and alkaline solutions. The production method and raw materials mainly include the following steps and components:
Raw materials *:
Grease: olive oil, camellia oil, palm oil, coconut oil, grape seed oil, etc. are commonly used. These oils have different characteristics, such as smoothness, moisture retention, rich foam, etc. They can be combined according to needs.
Alkali: mainly sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide, used for saponification reaction with oils and fats.
Pure water: can be distilled water, hydrosol, milk, etc.
Other additives (optional): such as essential oils, plant powders, etc., used to enhance the aroma, color, and moisturizing effect of handmade soap.
Production method * (taking the cold method as an example):
Prepare tools and materials, including sodium hydroxide, stainless steel pot, gloves, goggles, thermometer, mixer, mold, etc.
Measure the sodium hydroxide in the formula, place it in a beaker, add pure water and stir until dissolved.
Pour the weighed oil into a stainless steel pot and heat it. When the temperature of the alkali solution and oil is about 35 degrees, pour the alkali solution into the oil and mix it.
Stir the mixture with a blender until it becomes thick, like salad dressing.
Add essential oils, plant powders, and other additives at the appropriate time, mix well, and pour into the mold.
Let it stand for several weeks, allowing the soap solution to fully saponifie and harden into shape, then demold and cut into pieces for use.
In addition, there are other production methods such as water separation and oil separation, which are relatively complex but can produce handmade soap with different characteristics and effects.
Please note that the handmade soap making process involves chemicals. It is important to follow the guidance of a professional and ensure a safe operating environment.
